“ Be Still and Know that He is God”

Today’s news Voices In My Head.
Ok I’m not crazy here, but there are very three distinct voices in my mind/head on a regular basis.  Our world especially this scientific culture that I live in would say there is something wrong with my brain.  I have heard these voices very distinct voices as far back in my life as 2 years old.  My voice, God’s voice, and the one that lies, the one that says I don’t measure up.  The one that says I need this that or the other to be happy or fulfilled.
I haven’t always understood the distinction between the voices, the reason for that is sometimes the voices sound like four at once or fifty voices blaring in my head at the top of their lungs screaming for my attenchen the loud ones are usually the lies it is in those times that it becomes very hard to distinguish the three voices.  My voice gets confused.
Here is the thing though, and I am not writing this from a I know it all perspective, because I don’t! I am also not writing this saying that this is…

The Wise Women . . .

Today’s news “Remain in me, and I will remain in you.” -John 15:4
When I don’t know what to say or what to do, when fear feels like it’s about to consume my body, the place I must go is to God, in his word and on my knees.  On most every day I start in His Word, in his scripture and messages for us.  “ For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow;  it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight.  Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”               -Hebrews 4:12,13
Today I spent time in Proverbs 14 I have been struggling with my own foolishness lately. Especially the way I spend my money foolishly and unwisely. I hate myself for it and I struggle with changing my actions. It is an outright battle waging within me.  I pray and cry out to God to make it easy, but even as I pray that I …

This sin cursed world isn’t it!

Today’s news This is all I have today and sums up my thoughts lately.
1 Peter 1:1-25
Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To God's elect, strangers in the world, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia,  who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by his blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade---kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.  In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith---of …

Rich Place

Today’s news Growing up with Grandma Vela.
Good morning, here we are at Monday again and on this Monday there is snow falling to the ground.  It doesn’t look like it’s going to stick.
This past weekend was a long weekend and it started with thanksgiving. Thursday was a really great day of fellowship and hanging out.  Unfortunately this year thanksgiving was over shadowed by the rest of the weekend. On Saturday my Grandma passed on to see Jesus Christ.  It’s strange, to think she is no longer here.  She was such an amazing women of faith in all our lives and she will be missed so very much!!
We loved her very much and she was instrumental, really she was, she has played the piano in her church for as long as I can remember and she sang and she taught us to sing and practice our instruments.
Growing up with my Grandma Vela around was such a special thing, for me, for my brother and sister and cousins.  Grandma’s house was always full of fun and warmth, good Mexican food, lots of voices p…

Black Friday

Today’s news It’s hard to Breathe today.
It’s hard to breath when you know that someone you love is leaving or has left this life.  It’s hard not to weep, it’s hard to not be filled with thoughts about everyone who She has touched in her life time. It’s hard not to think about how much you love her and how much she has blessed your life and how amazing you think her life has been in your eyes.  Grandma Vela my grandma is about to leave her cursed body behind. I’m glad of this at least, it’s hard to see her struggle with the pain that is inflicting her hard to see her so bound by this body that is failing her that has stopped working.
Today I remember the fear in her eyes as I sat with her in her hospital bed, this past weekend and I remembered something she would say to me over and over again, “if it weren’t for Jesus Christ I would not have gotten through this life.”  I never really saw her fear growing up, I know it was there though, and now I see more clearly how much Our Heavenly F…

His Glorious Physical Creation

Today’s news Our Interrupting Physical World
It’s another Monday and what happens when our set aside time for God is interrupted by the physical things of this world? God meets us where we are and is concerned with our physical life and it is not separate from our spiritual life! If we are a people who have Believed in God son, we should not ignore the physical needs, our own or others.  Have you ever noticed that Jesus Christ while he was here always met the physical needs first and than addressed the spiritual needs? I noted that a few years ago, as I was doing a comparison study of Jesus Christ in the four gospels.  God for his Glory’s sake is concerned with the physical part of our spiritual life. I am able to know this for certain, because of Jesus Christ,  “ Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he hu…

Mondays Flying Monkey.

Today’s news First things first! It’s Monday morning, the beginning of the work week. It’s another start to something.  Our life is full of starts and finishes. We start a new week, we start a new weekend, we start a new day, we start a new pot of coffee, we start a new load of laundry and so on and so forth. With all these starts there are a whole lot of opportunities to add a conversation, a prayer to our God.  I love this idea. In all the starts of each day, I will acknowledge Him and lift a prayer, or remember something He has said in His word, Or, in that moment of start, I could worship Him or thank Him. I’m going to challenge myself with this, (and I’m going to challenge all of you to the same). And remember there are always new places to start this challenge.  A nourished life is one that starts by putting ones self into a position to listen to what our God and Creator has to say.  And, we are able to stand before our holy righteous God because of His Son, who was both God and Man…
