Epic!

In the monkeys flying report today, we learn that there are joys that come from living and doing the sometimes mundane tasks of living day to day. For instance the pleasure of having clean laundry which takes some time to do, but allows a person to do other house hold tasks at the same time, like mop the winter grim off the floors. (winter grime: The stuff that cakes on the floors when you walk through the front door, after a blizzard has hit the day before.) Other tasks to be done while doing laundry are, homework, dishes and listening to the new Hobbit soundtrack which I just down loaded off of iTunes last night. (love it!) Repositioning the view we have from our vantage point is difficult. How do we see past our own day to day tasks and lives? It's hard to see over a pile of,laundry, moping floors, going to a job and taking care of kids or pets or just being available to the people who's lives we are in. How do we have compassion for things that seem to be out of our control? The person that I have to come back to over and over again is God, who, we can't see, but by faith know is here and present. If we take His example of how to pursue the ones we love, and pursue Him in such a way, than he is faithful to give us glimpses of His very real presents in this life, and in his presents, even the things that seem to us, boring, unexciting or uninspired have joy in them. With God the soundtrack of our lives is epic. :)

Listening and Speaking

Today’s News Just some Thursday thoughts.

Being a good listener means not just sitting quietly as the other person talks, it means actually engaging the speaker in what it is they are talking about, it means because you are listening to what they are saying, that you may have questions about what they are talking about, therefore you ask questions and you ask the speaker to expound on what they are talking about.  A good listener does not just sit with the speaker, thinking about what they will say next when the person finishes speaking.  Instead their thoughts are focused on what is being said and who is saying it.  Not only are they listening to what is being said but how it is being said, body language, and tone of what is being said.  The listener is also making a point to engage with the person who is speaking to make sure they understand what they are say is what they mean to communicate.

Being a good listener involves more than just sitting quietly while another person talks.

Today’s news Voices In My Head.
Ok I’m not crazy here, but there are very three distinct voices in my mind/head on a regular basis.  Our world especially this scientific culture that I live in would say there is something wrong with my brain.  I have heard these voices very distinct voices as far back in my life as 2 years old.  My voice, God’s voice, and the one that lies, the one that says I don’t measure up.  The one that says I need this that or the other to be happy or fulfilled.
I haven’t always understood the distinction between the voices, the reason for that is sometimes the voices sound like four at once or fifty voices blaring in my head at the top of their lungs screaming for my attenchen the loud ones are usually the lies it is in those times that it becomes very hard to distinguish the three voices.  My voice gets confused.
Here is the thing though, and I am not writing this from a I know it all perspective, because I don’t! I am also not writing this saying that this is…

The Wise Women . . .

Today’s news “Remain in me, and I will remain in you.” -John 15:4
When I don’t know what to say or what to do, when fear feels like it’s about to consume my body, the place I must go is to God, in his word and on my knees.  On most every day I start in His Word, in his scripture and messages for us.  “ For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow;  it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight.  Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”               -Hebrews 4:12,13
Today I spent time in Proverbs 14 I have been struggling with my own foolishness lately. Especially the way I spend my money foolishly and unwisely. I hate myself for it and I struggle with changing my actions. It is an outright battle waging within me.  I pray and cry out to God to make it easy, but even as I pray that I …
